Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 7, 2026
Overview
The Southern California Association of Camera Clubs (SCACC) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. SCACC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization managing the Photographic Arts Building in Balboa Park, San Diego.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you sign in to the SCACC website, we use Google OAuth to verify your identity. Google provides us with your name and email address. We do not receive your Google password or access to your Google account beyond these basic profile fields.
Roster and Membership Information
SCACC maintains a roster of photographers and club members. This includes your name, email address, club affiliation(s), and photographer page settings (bio, social links, contact preferences). This information is managed by SCACC administrators and is used to determine your access level and membership status.
Content You Submit
If you upload photos, write a bio, or submit content through the member portal or dashboard, that content is stored in our database and may be displayed publicly according to your opt-in preferences.
Automatically Collected Information
Like most websites, our server logs may collect IP addresses, browser type, and request timestamps for security and operational purposes. We do not use third-party analytics tracking on this site.
How We Use Your Information
- To authenticate your identity and determine your access level
- To manage club memberships and photographer rosters
- To display your photographer page (only if you opt in)
- To forward messages from the contact form (only if you enable it)
- To send meeting minutes and member resources to authenticated members
- To maintain site security and prevent unauthorized access
Google OAuth Data
This site uses Google OAuth for authentication. When you sign in with Google:
- Google sends us your name and email address.
- We store these in our database to link your Google identity to your SCACC roster entry.
- We do not request access to your Google contacts, calendars, Drive files, or any other Google data.
- You can revoke SCACC's access to your Google profile at any time by visiting Google Account Permissions.
What We Don't Do
- We do not sell or rent your personal information
- We do not share your email with third parties for marketing
- We do not use third-party advertising or tracking pixels
- We do not store your Google password — authentication is handled entirely by Google
Photographer Pages
If you opt in to a public photographer page, the following information may be visible to anyone on the internet:
- Your display name and bio
- Photos you or your club have uploaded to SCACC galleries
- Links to your website and social media profiles (if you provide them)
- A contact form (if you enable it — your email is never shown to visitors)
You can disable your photographer page at any time from the member portal.
Data Retention
Your roster and membership data is retained as long as you are a member of a SCACC club. Photo credits remain on the site even after membership ends, as they are part of the historical record of club exhibitions and competitions. You may request removal of your personal information by contacting SCACC.
Your Rights
- Access: You can view your data in the member portal
- Correction: You can update your bio and settings, or contact an admin
- Opt-out: You can disable your photographer page at any time
- Revocation: You can revoke Google access from your Google account
- Deletion: You can request deletion of your personal data by contacting SCACC
Security
Authentication is handled through Google OAuth and Auth.js with database sessions. Passwords are never stored on our servers. Access to administrative functions is restricted by role-based permissions. The site is served over HTTPS.
